He won four major championships, the U.S. Open in 1994 and 1997 and The Open Championship in 2002 and 2012, among more than 70 career victories worldwide, and he held the world number one ranking in 1997. He holds the record of seven World Match Play Championship victories and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2011.
