Craig Beevers

Craig Beevers is an English professional Scrabble player from Norton, County Durham, who won the 2014 World Scrabble Championship, becoming only the second Englishman to do so after Mark Nyman in 1993. His competitive Scrabble career runs from 2003 to the present, during which he reached a peak rating of 2161 and a world ranking of seventh in 2015, the same year he won the UK National Championship; he also serves as webmaster for the World English-Language Scrabble Players' Association and the Association of British Scrabble Players, and wrote the 2015 book Word Addict, published by HarperCollins. Beyond Scrabble he demonstrated wider word-game skill by winning a series of the British television program Countdown.
