Joseph Henri Maurice Rocket Richard was a Canadian ice hockey right wing who lived from 1921 to 2000, born in Montreal, Quebec, who spent his entire eighteen season NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens from 1942 to 1960. In the 1944-45 season he became the first player to score 50 goals in 50 games, later became the first to reach 500 career goals, and retired as the league's all time leading scorer with 544 goals. He won the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 1947 and eight Stanley Cup championships, including five consecutive titles from 1956 to 1960, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961 with its waiting period waived.
