Vitaly Venediktovich Scherbo is a Belarusian artistic gymnast born January 13, 1972, in Minsk, widely regarded as one of the most dominant gymnasts in history. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics he won six of the eight possible gold medals, including team, all-around, pommel horse, rings, vault and parallel bars, and he remains the only male gymnast to have won world championship titles on all eight individual apparatus. He continued winning world and European championship medals through the mid-1990s before retiring in 1997 after a motorcycle accident.
