Kerri Strug is an American gymnast born November 19, 1977, in Tucson, Arizona. She won a team bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and team gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics as a member of the Magnificent Seven, becoming a national icon at the 1996 Games when she completed a vault on a badly injured ankle, scoring 9.712 to mathematically secure the American team's gold medal over Russia. She also won team silver medals at the 1991 and 1994 World Championships and a team bronze in 1995.
