Wally Lewis is an Australian rugby league footballer and coach who played professionally from the 1970s through the early 1990s. A decorated national captain from 1984 to 1989, he became legendary for his performances in State of Origin competition, captaining Queensland in 30 of his 31 matches, and won a record eight State of Origin man-of-the-match awards.
