Greg LeMond is an American former professional road racing cyclist who won the Tour de France three times, in 1986, 1989 and 1990, the only American male ever to do so, and was the first non-European professional cyclist to win the race. He won the Road Race World Championship twice, in 1983 and 1989, and after being accidentally shot while hunting in 1987 he made a comeback to win the 1989 Tour by eight seconds on the final stage. He was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame in 1996.
