Sir Mark Simon Cavendish is a retired professional road cyclist from the Isle of Man, born May 21, 1985, widely regarded as one of the greatest road sprinters of all time. He holds the all time record of 35 Tour de France stage wins and 55 total Grand Tour stage victories across cycling's three major races, won the 2011 UCI Road World Championship road race as only the second British male world champion after Tom Simpson, and claimed the points classification in all three Grand Tours over his career. On the track he won three World Championship titles in the madison and an Olympic silver medal in the omnium at the 2016 Rio Games, and he was knighted in 2024 for services to cycling and charity work.
