Cadel Evans, born February 14, 1977, is an Australian former professional racing cyclist who competed in both mountain biking and road bicycle racing. He won UCI Mountain Bike World Cup titles in 1998 and 1999 before transitioning to the road, where he finished runner-up at the Tour de France twice, in 2007 and 2008, then broke through to win the race outright in 2011 at age 34, becoming the first Australian ever to win the Tour de France and one of only three non-European winners in the race's history alongside Greg LeMond and Egan Bernal. He also won the UCI Road World Championships road race in 2009, competed at four Olympic Games across both disciplines (1996 and 2000 in mountain biking, 2008 and 2012 in road cycling), was made a Member of the Order of Australia, and retired from competition on February 1, 2015.
