Lizzie Deignan is an English professional cyclist who won the UCI Road World Championship road race title in 2015 and became the first winner of the revived Paris-Roubaix Femmes in 2021. She also won the Tour of Flanders for Women in 2016 and Liege-Bastogne-Liege in 2020, becoming the first woman to win the sport's Triple Crown of women's Monument classics, and took the silver medal in the road race at the 2012 London Olympics. She was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2023 and retired from professional cycling in July 2025.

To cap her best season to date, on 26 September, Deignan won the World Championships road race in Richmond, Virginia, USA, beating van der Breggen in a sprint from a small group of nine riders at the finish line, becoming the fourth British woman to win the world road race title after Beryl Burton, Mandy Jones and Nicole Cooke.
