Karch Kiraly is an American volleyball player and coach, the only person to win Olympic medals in both indoor and beach volleyball. He won indoor gold in 1984 and 1988, then beach volleyball gold in 1996 when the discipline debuted as an Olympic sport, and was named FIVB Best Player in the World in 1986 and 1988. He later coached the United States women's national team to its first Olympic gold at the Tokyo 2020 Games, revealing only afterward that he had privately managed a colon cancer diagnosis from 2017 through the tournament.
