Karl Anthony Malone, nicknamed the Mailman, is an American former professional basketball player, born in 1963, who played for the Utah Jazz from 1985 to 2003 and the Los Angeles Lakers from 2003 to 2004, reaching the NBA Finals three times, in 1997, 1998 and 2004, without ever winning a championship. He is third on the NBA's all time scoring list with 36,928 points and holds the league records for career free throws made and attempted, won two Most Valuable Player awards in 1997 and 1999, and made fourteen All-Star teams and eleven All-NBA First Teams. He was named to the NBA's 50th and 75th anniversary teams and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010, with the Utah Jazz retiring his number 32.
