John Houston Stockton is an American former professional basketball player, born in 1962, who spent his entire nineteen season NBA career with the Utah Jazz from 1984 to 2003, reaching the playoffs every season and leading the team to the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998, both losses to the Chicago Bulls. He holds the NBA's all time records for career assists, with 15,806, and career steals, with 3,265, by wide margins over any other player, and led the league in assists for nine consecutive seasons. A ten time All-Star who was named to the NBA's 50th and 75th anniversary teams, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.
