Jerry Alan West, nicknamed the Logo for the silhouette based on his image used in the NBA's official logo, was an American professional basketball player and executive who lived from 1938 to 2024 and played his entire fourteen season career for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1960 to 1974. Also called Mr. Clutch for his late game shooting, he won the 1972 NBA championship as a player, was a fourteen time All-Star and ten time All-NBA First Team selection, and remains the only Finals Most Valuable Player ever chosen from the losing team, in 1969, finishing with 25,192 career points. After retiring he became one of the most successful executives in league history, winning eight more championships as a Lakers and Golden State Warriors executive, and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame three separate times, as a player in 1979, an Olympian in 2010 and a contributor in 2024.
