This dimension links an athlete to the specific sport they actually played. Wikipedia describes Pele as a "professional footballer who played as a forward," tying his entire career to association football rather than any other sport. Browsing by sport gathers every athlete who competed in the same discipline.

FAQs
Why are poker players classified as athletes in this atlas?
Poker champions and professional players are carried as athlete entities because games are treated as first-class citizens in this atlas.
This subcategory groups athletes who competed in poker, the card game judged by scoring hands against other players for stakes, including poker champions and professional players. Players of trick-taking or matching card games are grouped separately under the game type's own tree.
