Willie Mays was an American professional baseball outfielder who played mainly for the New York and San Francisco Giants. Celebrated for his all-around excellence at hitting, power, speed, and defense, including a famous over-the-shoulder catch in the 1954 World Series known simply as "The Catch," he is regarded as one of the greatest all-around players in baseball history.
