Sarah Fredrika Sjostrom is a Swedish competitive swimmer, born August 17, 1993, who specializes in sprint freestyle and butterfly events. As of 2024 she holds 23 individual medals at long course World Championships, more than any other swimmer in history, and has won six Olympic medals across five consecutive Games from 2008 to 2024, including three golds, in the 100 meter butterfly, 100 meter freestyle and 50 meter freestyle. She is the first swimmer from any country to win a total of 28 medals at the LEN European Aquatics Championships, currently holds the long course world record in the 50 meter butterfly, and was the first Swedish woman to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming and the first swimmer to surpass 1,000 MVP points in the International Swimming League.
