Karoly Guttler is a Hungarian competitive swimmer, born June 15, 1968, in Budapest, who specialized in breaststroke and represented Hungary at four consecutive Olympic Games from 1988 to 2000. He won a silver medal in the 100 meter breaststroke at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and a silver in the 200 meter breaststroke at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In 1993 he won gold in the 100 meter breaststroke at the European Championships in Sheffield, setting a world record of 1:00.95 in the semifinal that stood until 1996, and that year he was named World Swimmer of the Year by Swimming World Magazine. He won multiple additional medals at World and European Championships over his career.
