Hannah Stockbauer

Hannah Stockbauer is a German competitive swimmer, born January 7, 1982, in Nuremberg, who specialized in freestyle, particularly middle and long distance events. She won multiple gold medals at the 2001 Fukuoka and 2003 Barcelona World Championships, taking the 400 meter, 800 meter and 1500 meter freestyle titles, and set meet records in the 800 meter and 1500 meter freestyle at the 2003 World Championships. She won a bronze medal as part of Germany's 4x200 meter freestyle relay team at the 2004 Athens Olympics, competed for Germany at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, and was named World Swimmer of the Year in 2003 by Swimming World Magazine and German Sportswoman of the Year in 2001 and 2003. She was affiliated with the SSG 81 Erlangen swimming club and retired from competitive swimming in October 2005.
