Leon Marchand is a French competitive swimmer, born May 17, 2002, in Toulouse, France, who specializes in breaststroke, individual medley, butterfly and freestyle events. At the 2024 Paris Olympics he became the fourth swimmer, and third male swimmer, in Olympic history to win four individual gold medals at a single Games, taking the 200 meter breaststroke, 200 meter butterfly, 200 meter medley and 400 meter medley, and also won a bronze medal in the 4x100 meter medley relay. He won seven gold medals across the 2022, 2023 and 2025 World Championships, becoming the first French male swimmer to win gold in the 200 meter butterfly at that event, holds multiple world records in individual medley events and European records in several events, and as a collegiate swimmer for Arizona State University won NCAA titles and helped the team to its first ever national championship in 2024.
