Greg Louganis is an American former diver widely regarded as one of the greatest divers in Olympic history. He won Olympic gold medals in both the springboard and platform events at both the 1984 Los Angeles and 1988 Seoul Olympics, sweeping both diving disciplines at consecutive Games. At the 1988 Games he famously hit his head on the springboard during a preliminary dive, required stitches, and returned hours later to win gold, a moment widely remembered as one of the sport's most dramatic.
