Blockade (board game)

Alignment and Abstract Strategy Games

Blockade, also known as Cul de sac, is a two player abstract strategy board game played under the motto beat the barrier. It is played on a grid of eleven by fourteen spaces using two mobile playing pieces per player along with a set of barriers, and the object is to maneuver one's own pieces around the barriers and into the opponent's starting spaces before the opponent does the same. The game was designed by Philip Slater and dates to 1975. A typical game takes about twenty minutes and it is generally recommended for players aged eight and older, relying primarily on deduction rather than luck since the board position is fully visible to both players at all times.
