Symple is a two-player abstract strategy game created in 2010 by Christian Freeling and Benedikt Rosenau. Played like Go on a 19 by 19 grid of lines, Symple has no mechanism for capturing stones once placed; instead players score points for the territory their stones control, less a penalty charged for each separate group of connected stones. Each turn a player must either grow every one of their existing groups by one stone or place a new, unconnected stone, and passing is not allowed, making Symple a drawless, finite, perfect-information game that ends only when the board fills or a player resigns.
