Octi

Octi is an abstract strategy board game designed by Donald Green and first released in 1999 by The Great American Trading Company. It is played by two or four people on a nine by nine board, with a junior edition for children using a smaller six by seven board. The game has drawn attention for resisting conventional computer chess programming methods, proving computationally difficult for standard game playing engines, and it was featured as a competition category at the 9th Computer Olympiad in 2004. Octi also supports the Smart Game Format used to record and exchange abstract board game records.
