Air sports in which the pilot launches from the ground or a hillside on foot and flies under a fabric wing without a fuselage. Paragliding is the type case, flown for distance, for accuracy of landing and in timed cross-country competition. Sports flown in a rigid-winged aircraft sit in the aircraft sports group instead. Every sport filed in this group belongs to the Air Sports category and has its own entry in the Sport and Games Atlas, from which a reader can follow links on to its leading athletes, its competitions and the governing bodies that set its rules.
