SUMMARY:Islamic New Year
DESCRIPTION:1 Muharram\n\nThe first day of Muharram\, opening the Islamic
lunar (Hijri) year\, whose count begins from the Prophet Muhammad's mig
ration (Hijra) from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE. It is a quiet observance
rather than a celebration\, marked by reflection and\, for many\, the re
collection of the Hijra as the founding event of the Muslim community. F
or Shia Muslims in particular the new month opens the solemn mourning pe
riod that builds toward Ashura on the tenth of Muharram.\n\nhttps://spor
